What changed
- The water park closes for maintenance from October 26, 2026. Inside the Magic describes it as "planned seasonal maintenance".
- The planned reopening moved back about a week. It was first listed as "on or before March 24, 2027". Inside the Magic reports that "Universal has since pushed that date back by about a week", to April 1, 2027.
When
- The closure begins October 26, 2026.
- The closure has been public since at least September 17, 2026, when Disney Fanatic reported it with the March 24 reopening.
- The later reopening date was reported on September 28, 2026.
- The planned reopening is on or before April 1, 2027. Universal says the dates are subject to change, and Inside the Magic notes the "reopening date is still subject to change".
Where
Universal Volcano Bay, the water park at Universal Orlando Resort. Inside the Magic counts it as a fourth park in Universal's Orlando lineup, "right alongside Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe". The announcement covers Volcano Bay only.
What it means if you live here
- If your ticket or Annual Pass includes the water park, the closure matters to you. There is no Volcano Bay from October 26, 2026 until the planned reopening on or before April 1, 2027.
- The reopening date can still move. Universal says to check its page.
- A ticket does not get you in while it is closed. Disney Fanatic: a ticket product that includes Volcano Bay "doesn't override a scheduled park closure".
- Three-park passholders "can face a narrower included park lineup". Disney Fanatic: "Volcano Bay is closed, while Epic Universe isn't simply substituted as another included park." Passes "can be subject to blockout dates, depending on the product", so check the terms of your own pass.
- If you have a trip booked during the closure, Inside the Magic says to "double check whether any vacation packages or ticket bundles included Volcano Bay specifically".
- None of these sources says whether Universal extends, refunds or compensates a ticket, package or pass for the closure. Ask Universal before you buy or renew.
