The Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom closed for refurbishment on September 28, 2026. Disney's attraction page says: "Beginning September 28, Walt Disney World Railroad will temporarily close for routine refurbishment and is expected to reopen November 2026."

What changed

• The train is closed for refurbishment. Disney's schedule for September 28, 2026 lists the day as "Refurbishment".
• Before the closure it ran between two stations: "You can board or disembark at near the entrance to the park on Main Street, U.S.A. or at the Fantasyland station."
• WDW News Today reported the closure on August 31, 2026: "The train will be closed from September 28 through October 29, 2026."

What it means if you live here

• Both sources have the train closed through at least October 29, and Disney expects it back in November 2026. Check Disney's page before counting on it for a November visit.
• When it returns, it is still a two-station shuttle. Disney: "We expect the train to return to normal operations when the expansion of Magic Kingdom is complete." WDW News Today reports it "will continue operating in shuttle mode", going "back and forth between Main Street, U.S.A. and Storybook Circus".
• Why Frontierland is skipped, according to WDW News Today: "The Frontierland station is closed due to construction of Piston Peak National Park and Disney Villains land."
