Frontier plans Orlando nonstops to Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena from December

Frontier Airlines plans nonstop flights from Orlando International Airport to three cities in Colombia starting in December, subject to government approval. Frontier announced the routes on Thursday, September 10, 2026. They are the airline's first service to South America.

What changed

• The routes, dates and frequencies:
• Medellín (MDE): daily, starting Thursday, December 10, 2026.
• Bogotá (BOG): starting Monday, December 14, 2026. Six flights a week at first, then daily from March 6, 2027.
• Cartagena (CTG): once a week, starting Saturday, December 19, 2026.
• Only Cartagena is a new route from Orlando.
• The airport's route list already shows Avianca and LATAM flying to Bogotá and Avianca flying to Medellín.
• The airport lists Cartagena as an "Unserved Route" and Frontier as its only carrier.
• The airport welcomed it: Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, commented in Frontier's release.

When

• Announced: Thursday, September 10, 2026.
• First flights: December 10, 14 and 19, 2026.
• Still planned: as of September 26, both Frontier's newsroom and the airport's page list the routes with the same dates. Neither mentions a delay or cancellation.
• Approval: the flights are still "subject to government approval" on both Frontier's and the airport's pages. The airport calls all future dates tentative.

What it means if you live here

• For Bogotá and Medellín, it is a second choice of airline, on routes Avianca (and, to Bogotá, LATAM) already fly from Orlando.
• For Cartagena, it is the only nonstop from Orlando, once a week.
• Bogotá is not daily at first. Some reports describe it as daily from the start, but Frontier's own schedule says six flights a week until March 6, 2027.
• Cost: no current fare is confirmed.
• The launch sale fares ($99 to Bogotá, $129 to Cartagena, $169 to Medellín) had to be bought by September 16, 2026, and were valid only for travel from January 14 through April 5, 2027, not for the December start dates.
• Whether the December flights can be booked today was not checked.
• Before you book: check the dates with Frontier, since the routes still await government approval and the airport says future dates may change.
