Long Street is closed from Boston Avenue to Easy Avenue until 7 a.m. Nov. 15 for SR 408 road work, CFX says

The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) says: "A continuous full road closure is scheduled for Long Street from Boston Avenue to Easy Avenue". The closure began at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, and is set to end at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026, for road work.

What changed

• The closure: Long Street is closed in full, continuously, from Boston Avenue to Easy Avenue, per CFX's alert.
• The detour, per the alert: drivers are sent right on Westmoreland Drive, north to South Street. They then turn left on South Street, west to Orange Blossom Trail/US 441, and left on Orange Blossom Trail/US 441, south towards Long Street.
• The handout gives the same detour by S. Westmoreland Drive and W. South Street, for drivers "traveling westbound on Long Street toward US 441". CFX's project page calls that handout the "SR 408 Long Street Closure Detour Map".
• What the work is, per the handout: CFX is building "a stormwater management pond located between Easy Avenue and Woods Avenue" that needs a temporary detour. The work is also meant to improve safety for drivers leaving westbound SR 408 for US 441 and to build "a new one-way connection between Grove Avenue and Woods Avenue".
• Homes on the street: "Residential access will be maintained for homes who use Long Street between Albany Avenue and Grove Avenue." That is the handout's wording, and its own limits.

• Scheduled end: 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026, per CFX's alert and its project page. CFX adds: "Due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances work could be delayed."
• What happens on Nov. 15: CFX's two documents say different things. CFX's alert says the closure ends Nov. 15. Its project handout says the detour pattern becomes the permanent one once the pond is built: the traffic pattern used for the detour "will remain in place as the FINAL traffic pattern". The handout itself gives no closure dates. CFX does not say what a driver will find on Long Street on Nov. 15, or whether the pond will be finished by then.
• Announced: CFX's media library metadata dates the upload of a Long Street closure map to Sept. 17, 2026.
