LYNX proposes bus cuts and route changes for Dec. 13; the board votes Oct. 22

LYNX proposes bus service changes that would take effect on December 13, 2026. At its September 17 meeting, LYNX staff asked the board, as a consent-agenda item, to open public comment on the proposal. The plan is not final: the board votes at its 1 p.m. meeting on Oct. 22.

What changed

• Link 701, the Orange Technical College Shuttle, would end entirely.
• Link 407 would be rerouted and renumbered. It would leave S.R. 417 for Landstar Blvd., Wetherbee Rd. and Boggy Creek Rd., and stop at Meadow Woods SunRail Station. It would drop its FastLink designation and make all local stops, and become Link 607 (607A for Lake Nona trips).
• Trips to Lake Nona would drop to "one a.m. and one p.m."
• Link 1 (Winter Park/Eatonville/Maitland) would lose Saturday service, plus the weekday 8:20 and 9:10 p.m. trips from Winter Park SunRail Station.
• Link 6 would stop serving the stretch between Aloma Ave. and Colonial Plaza Superstop.
• Trips cut on other routes:
• Link 10: the weekday 4:05 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. trips and the Saturday 4:10 a.m. trip from Kissimmee Intermodal Station to St. Cloud, and the Sunday 10 p.m. trip from Hwy. 192/Narcoossee Rd.
• Link 56: the weekday 4:14 and 4:43 a.m. trips from Plaza del Sol to Kissimmee Intermodal Station.
• Link 102: Sunday evening trips (southbound at 7:15, 8:15 and 9:15; northbound at 7:15 and 8:15).
• Link 426, the Poinciana Circulator: the weekday 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. trips from Poinciana Walmart.
• Two routes would gain service. Link 48 would run every 30 minutes on Saturdays until 7:45 p.m. Link 49 would run every 30 minutes on Saturdays until 7:30 p.m., and add a 12:15 a.m. Saturday and Sunday trip from LYNX Central Station to Rosemont Superstop.
• The board package lists the full route-by-route proposal, including smaller routing and schedule changes on routes not listed here.

Where

LYNX Central Station, 2nd Floor Board Room, 455 Garland Ave., Orlando, hosts the hearing and the vote. The affected routes run in Orange and Osceola counties, with Link 102 reaching Seminole County.

What it means if you live here

• If you ride Link 701, 407, 1 or an early or late trip on Link 10, 56, 102 or 426, check the list above: your bus may be cut or moved on December 13 if the board approves.
• You can still comment until 5 p.m. on Oct. 12 at golynx.com/contactus.
• Cost to LYNX: the board package calls the changes "budget neutral". No source reviewed mentions a fare change.
• Why: LYNX spokesperson Matt Friedman told Spectrum News 13 that ridership has been low in the Lake Nona area. WKMG News 6 reported that LYNX "hasn't named a reason for the route adjustments", and that total ridership fell 9.5% from June 2025 to June 2026.
