Trader Joe's new store at 1444 N. Alafaya Trail is open; Nov. 5 was the scheduled opening day

Trader Joe's page for its store at 1444 N. Alafaya Trail reads "Now Open!". The Shelby Report and WFTV gave Thursday, Nov. 5 as the opening day, and ClickOrlando wrote on Nov. 2 that it "opens Thursday"; all three stories were written before that day.

What changed

• A new store. ClickOrlando reports Trader Joe's "is opening its third Orange County store in Waterford Lakes, at 1444 North Alafaya Trail." It adds: "The location used to be a Party City store."
• Its size. WFTV reports the company "said the 9,264-square-foot location will be its second Orlando store."
• Third and second are both right. ClickOrlando says the company "already has stores in Winter Park and in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando." The company's Florida list has Winter Park as its own city, and its Orlando list has this store and the one at 8323 Sand Lake Rd.

When

• Scheduled: The Shelby Report wrote that Trader Joe's "will open a new Orlando, Florida, store Thursday, Nov. 5". WFTV reported it "will open at 8 a.m. with a grand opening celebration featuring samples and a reusable bag giveaway, according to the company."
• Open: the company's store page read "Now Open!" on November 8, 2026, and it gives no opening date.
• The opening day itself: no report written on or after November 5 was found, and this post did not visit or call the store.
• The company's announcement: its announcements page lists Orlando as "Now Open!" under an entry dated Nov. 2, 2026, before the scheduled day, so that date does not show when the store opened.

Where

• Address: 1444 North Alafaya Trail; phone (321) 445-0119.
• Nearby, in the sources' words: The Shelby Report says "east of the city, near the University of Central Florida", and ClickOrlando says "in Waterford Lakes".

What it means if you live here

• Hours: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, by WFTV, and the company's page lists the same hours for November 8, 2026.
• Beer and wine: the company's page lists both under alcohol at this store.
• More stores, reported but not on the company's list: The Shelby Report writes that "Trader Joe's confirmed to Orlando television station WESH 2 that three locations are set to open in the region: the Alafaya Trail store, another in Kissimmee and a third in Maitland." WESH's own story was not found.
• ClickOrlando's wording is that Trader Joe's "is also working on locations in Kissimmee and Maitland, and recently submitted plans to open another store in Orlando along East Colonial Drive."
• The company's Florida list has no store in Kissimmee or Maitland, which does not show the plans are off, because a list may leave out stores not yet open.
• East Colonial Drive: The Shelby Report, relaying local reports, says "a permit application has been filed with the city of Orlando for a Trader Joe's in the former Burlington space at 3001 E. Colonial Drive".

What this rests on

• The store being open: the company's own pages, read November 8, 2026.
• The date: three stories written before it. WFTV attributes its details to the company.
• Later reports: three web searches on November 8, 2026 found no report written on or after opening day; that is a few searches, not a full census.
