Verdict: DELIVERED ON TIME, 36 days early. On October 17, 2024 Loews Hotels & Co said the hotel "will start taking reservations October 22 for bookings beginning May 22, 2025" [C4]. Its own release dated April 16, 2025 says the company "opened the doors to the company's newest hotel" that day [C8, C9]. April 16 to May 22 is 36 days (counted by this entry). The hotel has the 500 rooms it was announced with [C2, C10, C14].

The promise. Opening "in 2025" with the park (August 22, 2024) [C1, C2], then bookings from May 22, 2025, "in Tandem With Opening of Universal Epic Universe on May 22, 2025" [C4, C5].
The opening. Loews's release dated April 16, 2025 says the hotel opened "in time for the much-anticipated guest previews at Universal Epic Universe beginning April 17" [C8, C9]. Loews's Orlando press list gives that release the same date [C12].
The size. 500 rooms in 2024 [C2, C6], at opening [C10], and on the hotel's own page today, "500 thoughtfully designed guest rooms, including 35 spacious suites" [C14]. Loews's fact sheet gives the same count [C15].
The sister hotels. The October 2024 release said Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort would also open in 2025 [C7]; the April 16 release says they opened in January and March [C11]. This entry did not trace their separate dates.
What it cost. None of the three Loews releases states a cost for the hotel [C18].
Today. Loews's site offers the hotel for booking [C16].
What is still open. What guests could use in the five weeks before May 22, 2025, and any county or inspector record of the opening.

The promise

Loews's release of August 22, 2024 is dated "Orlando, Fla. (August 22, 2024)" [C1]. It describes "a spectacular 500-room resort located at the much-anticipated Universal Epic Universe theme park opening in 2025" [C2].

Its release of October 17, 2024 is dated "Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2024)" and comes from "Loews Hotels & Co, co-owner and operator of the hotel portfolio at Universal Orlando Resort" [C3]. It gives the date: "will start taking reservations October 22 for bookings beginning May 22, 2025" [C4]. The headline ties the hotel to the park: "Set to Open Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, in Tandem With Opening of Universal Epic Universe on May 22, 2025" [C5]. It describes "a majestic 500-room property" [C6] and says "it prepares to also open Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort in 2025" [C7].

October 17, 2024. Bookings promised from May 22, 2025; reservations from October 22 [C3 to C5]. Loews's Orlando press list carries this release under October 17, 2024 [C13].
January and March. Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort open, according to Loews's April 16 release [C11].
April 2025, before the opening. A news report, Inside Universal, says the hotel was "Initially set to open on May 22" and now takes arrivals from April 16 [C17]. This is a news report; this entry did not find the company's own announcement of the change.
April 16, 2025. The release is dated "Orlando, Fla. (Apr. 16, 2025)" [C8]. It says the company "opened the doors to the company's newest hotel - Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel - in time for the much-anticipated guest previews at Universal Epic Universe beginning April 17" [C9]. It describes "the hotel is a 500-room Mediterranean retreat" [C10].
May 22, 2025. The promised date [C4]. The hotel had been open 36 days.
Today. The hotel's page says 500 rooms, 35 of them suites [C14], and Loews's site says "Book a stay now at Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel." [C16]

What changed, and why, in the record's own words

The schedule. The promised date was May 22, 2025 [C4]. The opening came on April 16, 2025 [C8, C9]. The records read give no reason for the earlier date. The April 16 release says the opening was "in time for" the park's guest previews [C9].
The size. No change: 500 rooms [C2, C6, C10, C14].
The park. The promise tied the hotel to the park's opening [C5]. This entry read no record of the park's own opening day; the April 16 release speaks of guest previews on April 17 [C9].

What it cost

No total cost for the hotel appears in the three Loews releases [C18]. The one dollar figure in them, $550 million, is for a different hotel, the Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center in Texas [C18].

What this entry did not check

The company's own announcement of the earlier date. Only the news report [C17] was read.
That reservations opened on October 22. (The release saying they would is dated October 17, 2024.) The promise says they would [C4]; no record read shows they did.
What guests could use in the five early weeks (park access, prices, closed amenities).
Permits and inspections. No certificate of occupancy, building permit or inspection record was read. A title search of Orange County Board matters for Helios, Epic Universe, Loews, Stella Nova and Terra Luna returned nothing, but it covers titles only and hotel permits are not Board items [C19].
Whether the releases were edited after they were issued. The pages read are live copies fetched on November 2, 2026, and their page data shows modification stamps in 2024 and 2026. No archive copy from the time was read.
