Walt Disney World and the Orlando Magic announced on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026 that Disney is extending its Champion of the Community sponsorship of the Magic, which began in 2010. They also unveiled a redesigned Walt Disney World Atrium at Kia Center, the Magic's arena.
What changed
- The sponsorship: Walt Disney World is extending its Champion of the Community (COTC) sponsorship of the Magic, which began in 2010. Per Disney's release, "The agreement will have the Disney brand remain on the Magic uniforms".
- How long: WFTV reports that the Magic's Charlie Freeman confirmed "a long-term agreement", but that "he did not disclose the specific length of the deal". No source gives the deal's value.
- The atrium: Disney's release calls it the "newly redesigned" Walt Disney World Atrium, with updated artwork and projection technology for Magic games and all events at the venue. It builds on what the release calls Disney's "longstanding presence at the Kia Center".
- Redesigned, not new. Disney's release says the two "unveiled the new Walt Disney World Atrium", and WFTV's headline calls it a "new atrium". Disney's own headline calls it "re-imagined". And the Magic's own release of Oct. 30, 2015 already said: "The Disney Atrium will continue to immerse fans with an enhanced, interactive guest experience".
When
- Announced: Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, the date on Disney's release. The release was published Oct. 13, and WFTV's story is dated Oct. 13.
- Whether the atrium is open now: the sources differ in tense. Disney says the two "unveiled" the atrium and that it "features" the artwork and projections. WFTV says Disney "is creating" it. Pirates & Princesses, a fan news site, reported on Oct. 19 that "the Kia Center shared a first look at the new atrium in action" on Oct. 17, citing WDW News Today.
- No opening date or first game is named in the sources read.
Where
- Kia Center, the Magic's arena in downtown Orlando, in the Walt Disney World Atrium.
What it means if you live here
- If you go to a Magic game or another event at Kia Center, the atrium's updated artwork and projections are meant for Magic games and all events at the venue, per Disney.
- Tickets, prices and access: none of the sources read mentions any change to them.
- On the court, the Disney brand stays on Magic uniforms. WFTV says Walt Disney World has been the team's jersey sponsor since 2017, and the two have been partners since 2010. Freeman calls it a "16-year COTC relationship".
