What changed
BeforeA Bahama Breeze restaurant at 499 E. Altamonte Drive, still licensed by the state as Bahama Breeze #3002.
NowA Yard House, expected to reopen at the site on Nov. 18, 2026, per Darden's schedule.
Darden's schedule converts the Bahama Breeze at 499 E. Altamonte Drive into a Yard House. Darden gave the dates to USA TODAY: "Darden Restaurants, the Florida company that operates the chain, told USA TODAY on Aug. 27". The Altamonte row of its table reads "Altamonte Springs, FL Yard House 10/17/26 11/18/26", under the columns "BAHAMA BREEZE CONVERTING TO EFFECTIVE CLOSE DATE EXPECTED REOPENING DATE".
What changed
- The brand. In Darden's schedule, the Altamonte Springs Bahama Breeze converts to a Yard House.
- Part of a chain-wide change. FOX 35 reported on Feb. 3, 2026: "The remaining 14 locations will be converted to other Darden brands over the next 12 to 18 months, and may temporarily close during the conversion process." Its list of converting sites includes "499 E Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL".
- Not the last Bahama Breeze. USA TODAY reported on Aug. 27: "In total, 11 Bahama Breeze locations remain operational".
When
- Effective close date: Oct. 17, 2026, as scheduled by Darden.
- Expected reopening as a Yard House: Nov. 18, 2026.
- The dates are Darden's August schedule, repeated. ClickOrlando printed the same row, "Altamonte Springs, FL Yard House Oct. 17 Nov. 18", on Sept. 1 and again on Sept. 21. No report read after Sept. 21 confirms that the restaurant closed on Oct. 17 or that the reopening date holds.
- What the state record shows today. Florida's licence file still lists the restaurant as "BAHAMA BREEZE #3002", and its last inspection, on May 12, 2026, was under that name. The licence file read today shows no Yard House licence at the address.
- The Orlando site on the same schedule. The Grand National Bahama Breeze at 5620 W. Oak Ridge Road was to stay "closed through Oct. 19, when it will reopen as an Olive Garden". Its state licence was "BAHAMA BREEZE # 3061" at a June 19, 2026 inspection and reads "OLIVE GARDEN # 6573" in the licence file read on Oct. 27, 2026.
Where
- The restaurant: "499 E Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL", in FOX 35's list.
What it means if you live here
- Expect the site to be closed until the reopening. Darden's schedule gives Oct. 17 as the effective close date and Nov. 18 as the expected reopening date.
- Check before you go. The dates are Darden's schedule as told to USA TODAY on Aug. 27, and no later report confirming them was found.
- Staff. FOX 35 reported in February that Darden planned to "place as many employees as possible within its broader portfolio". That is Darden's chain-wide plan, not a statement about this restaurant.
